(Sannyasa on June 10, 1984). On Jyestha Shuddha Dwadashi, Raktakshi Samvatsara (corresponding to June 19, 1984), Sunday. Under the orders of His Holiness Sri Vidyabhinava Nrisimha Bharathi Swami, Sri Sachidananda Valukeshwara Bharati Swamiji gave Sannyasa initiation under the tradition of Sri Math. Initially, Brahmachari Shri Shripada was named Sri Vidyabhinava Vidyaranya Bharati Swami. Later he took charge as the successor to the Jagadguru Peetha of Sri Kudali-Sringeri Mahasamsthanam.
He has studied the five great Mahakavyas of Sanskrit, Tarka, and Upanishads along with the commentaries of Shankaracharya, and the Brahma Sutras. He completed his M.A. in Sanskrit from Karnataka State Open University in Mysore. In the final M.A. examination held in 1999, he passed successfully. Later, His Holiness got his Ph.D. degree from Kuvempu Vishwa Vidyalaya's Sanskrit Department, presenting a thesis on Shankaracharya.
On 24-4-2017 (Akshaya Tritiya Day) after Sri Satchidananda Valukeshwar Bharathi became Brahmaikya, a grand Yoga Pattabhishekam was performed in the presence of devotees of Sri Matha. The program was attended by Sri Dattavadhutaru of Sri Chaitanyasrama and representatives of Hariharpur, Sri Ramachandrapur, Sri Swarnavalli Maths, Agadi Anandavan and others.
His Holiness on Jyeshtha Shuddha Tritiya of Shobhakrit Samvatsara, (Monday 22-05-2023) initiated Sri Dattaraja Deshpande (Ghanapathi) into Sanyasa as his disciple and the 72nd successor of Sri Math in Kudali in presence Sri Sharadamba alog with Shri Dattavadhutaru, of Chaitanyashrama, Hebballi, Satish Avadhutaru from Arasikere and representatives of many mutts from various parts of India. Mahaswamiji announced that he had given Yogapatta to his successor as Sri Sri Abhinava Shankara Bharati.

Sri Abhinava Shankara Bharati Sannidhan has studied Rigveda, Yajurveda, Samaveda, Vedanga, and Dharmashastra in his poorvashrama. As a Veda Shastra Vidwan, he has trained many students to become scholars in various subjects. He traveled to Kashi, Haridwar, Gujarat, and many more such places across India for six long years for the purpose of intensive learning under the tutelage of great vidwans.
Swamiji is a dedicated practitioner of Kriya Yoga and has reached a vast number of readers through his articles explaining the complex subjects of spirituality in simple terms to commoners.
Sri Abhivana Shankara Bharathi Swami started Sri Vidyabhinava Valukeshwara Bharati Gurukula. Many students have already joined the school and begun their studies.

Observing the decline of traditional teaching methods in the ancient city of Varanasi, His Holiness has started Sri Saccidananda Shankara Bharati Veda Bhavan, in Varanasi (Kashi), with the aim of revitalising it. Apart from this, he has established the Sri Vishweshwara Veda Shastra Research Center, Varanasi (Kashi), aimed to use modern scientific methodologies to enrich it, and also to practice our rituals in the correct manner so, faith and devotion towards Vedic rituals gets boosted. Sri Swamiji is also actively involved in the maintenance and development of the Bharati Goshala in Kudali.
